Day of Caring
Friday, October 14, 2011 Fourteenth Annual Day of Caring
What is Day of Caring™?
Day of Caring™ is a volunteer community service project held annually one day each fall in St. Mary’s County. Employees from area businesses work side-by-side with United Way agency staff and volunteers, and often the very people their work supports.
When is Day of Caring™?
Most projects will take place on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2011. A couple of additional projects, for the Special Olympics St. Mary’s County Soccer Tournament and the Farm Life Festival for Christmas in April, will take place on other days in October.
Why is Day of Caring™ important?
Day of Caring™ is an opportunity for the community to see where and how their donations are used locally, while providing much needed volunteer skills for local charities.
How can you become involved?
Volunteers with a wide variety of skills are needed. Each year area businesses sponsor Day of Caring™ with cash donations, employee volunteers and in-kind gifts of project materials. These sponsorships support the Day of Caring™, including helping to defray the costs of projects. Contact United Way of St. Mary’s County directly at 301.862.5577 to sponsor/volunteer.
Where do projects take place?
Projects occur at sites throughout St. Mary’s County, primarily at the offices and facilities of the United Way of St. Mary’s County agencies.
